Late Prof. Dr. C S Paulose can be considered as the pioneer in Neuroscience research in Kerala. The Neurobiology laboratory he established at Department of Biotechnology, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) produced many world class researchers in Neurobiology as early as 1996. Later on he built up a sophisticated Neurobiology facility at CUSAT and became the founder Director of Centre for Neuroscience at Department of Biotechnology, CUSAT in the year 2000. He played a pivotal role in uplifting SBTI into its present glory by serving it for more than two decades as Joint Secretary, Vice President, President and Secretary. In memory of his commendable contributions to SBTI and Neurobiology, the society instituted Dr. C. S Paulose Memorial Oration Award to a distinguished neuroscientist in the year 2017.
